WORKING PRINCIPLE
It is an automation-driven, smart cooling device that yields the best of both water-cooled and air-cooled technologies. The process fluid runs in closed-circuit through aluminum finned copper tubes, avoiding exposure to atmospheric air A set of water and ambient dry bulb temperature sensors provide inputs to the control system, The system then controls the fan power & water consumption while maintaining the desired output cold water temperature.
As hot water temperature rises, the fans switch on and ramp up together to reach their pre-programmed maximum speed in an effort to reject the maximum thermal load to the atmosphere. At this stage, the adiabatic coolers operate in dry mode, where the equipment delivers the desired cold water temperature through dry cooling only.The dry mode of operation continues as long as the cold water temperature does not exceed the desired limit, either due to increase in ambient dry bulb temperature or an increase in heat load on the system.
If the cold water temperature rises beyond the desired limit, the unit transitions to wet mode. In wet mode, the adiabatic cooler uses wetted pads to pre-cool the ambient air entering the tower, to near its wet bulb temperature.This pre-cooled air is then used to cool process water or refrigerant, Thus, the process fluid can be cooled to below ambient dry bulb temperature
1).95% WATER SAVING POTENTIAL
Adiabatic coolers feature closed-circuit process water flow through heat exchanger coils, resulting in complete elimination of evaporation, blowdown and drift loss. The intelligent control system of the adiabatic cooler takes water temperature and ambient dry bulb temperature as inputs and takes a decision about whether to perform wet or dry cooling to achieve the desired thermal performance. The seamless transition between dry and wet mode helps in saving up to 95% water as compared to conventional cooling towers on annualized basis, without compromising on thermal performance.

Before the advent of adiabatic coolers, customers had to resort to air-cooled systems where water availability was a challenge. Air-cooled HVAC systems have the inherent disadvantage of dealing with high dry bulb temperatures and, hence, high power consumption. Adiabatic cooling technology pre-cools incoming air from ambient dry bulb temperature to near wet bulb temperature. This ensures lower process water temperature that in turn, reduces the power consumption of the system by 50%, as compared to conventional air-cooled system.In addition to that, fan motor assemblies come with integral VFD that further optimize fan power consumption of the adiabatic cooler.
3).MAINTENANCE SAVING POTENTIAL
Adiabatic Cooling Systems come with closed-circuit design, unlike conventional open evaporative cooling equipment. This ensures that all the hassles of maintaining an open-circuit cooling tower are completely done away with, as blowdown, drift and evaporation from the primary circuit is eliminated.
Almost all the components of the adiabatic cooler (fan, motor, heat exchanger coils, or control system) are maintenance-free.Maintenance is only required in the adiabatic pads, which can be automated by auto-flush system.
The closed-circuit design ensures that there is no scaling on the process side, because the circulating water does not come in contact with atmospheric air. Hence, the adiabatic cooler not only frees up maintenance on the equipment front, but also reduces maintenance costs on the process side, by eliminating the requirement for frequent descaling and chemical dosing.This, in turn, also enhances the life of the process-side equipment.
4).HYGIENIC COOLING TECHNOLOGY
Waterborne pathogens like Legionella from cooling equipment pose a serious challenge for critical care patients in the hospital. Our range of adiabatic coolers come with auto-drain feature, that is specifically designed to stop this menace at its roots. The closed-circuit design ensures that there is no stagnation of water for long durations, thus eliminating the risk of microbial growth.
Containing and recirculating the process water through heat-exchanger coils guarantees zero exposure to ambient air. With fail-safe protocols like intelligent control systems, automatic operation of valves, and an inclined gutter system, it effectively eliminates the threat of waterborne infections.
